About Ayurveda

Ayurveda means "science/truth of life" and is a 5000 year old natural healing system developed by ancient sages of India. It combines right-eating, right-living, and right-thinking, providing a holistic approach to reaching one's total wellbeing and full-potential. It continues to be one of the most sophisticated & powerful mind-body health systems to date. Ayurveda is a Vedic science which, like yoga, has only one purpose: to expose the illusions and weaknesses of the mind and help one achieve true liberation.

In Ayurvedic medicine, optimal health starts with prevention. Prevention is based on achieving a balanced lifestyle that is in harmony with the cycles of life & nature. Ayurveda recognizes that mind creates patterns and beliefs that shape your personality and health, and is the origin of all disease (dis-ease). Ayurveda is a science designed to remove the imbalance of the physical body (thru foods and practices) while supporting the pursuit of mental clarity thru meditation to change negative mindsets.

Thru the practice of meditation one enters a state of expanded awareness and inner quiet that refreshes your mind and naturally restores balance to your body; your heart rate and breath slows, your body decreases production of "stress" hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline, and increases the production of neurotransmitters that enhance wellbeing, including serotonin, dopamine, oxytocin, and endorphins, thus opening your consciousness to positive energy and healing and enabling you to align with, and believe in, your good health.

Ayurveda says our digestive system is our detoxification system. Research now reveals that everyday stress is processed through our gut and causes the digestive system to break down, slowing detoxification and driving the degenerative stress response into every cell of the body. It's incessant worrying and unnecessary thinking that disrupts your gut and eventually, your body. With digestive-compromising stress and environmental toxicity of today, restoring digestive strength and regular detoxification are more important than ever before. Consuming some of nature's most potent detoxifying foods thru MHC will help ease your body and mind, and restore much needed balance. Nothing has more power to heal and transform the body than the mind. Freedom from illness depends upon expanding our awareness, bringing it to balance, and extending that balance to the body.

Ayurveda recommends that all meals should be eaten slowly, attentively and calmly, and that the main meal should be at midday. A simple Ayurvedic trick to ensure that you're getting a balanced diet is to include the six tastes (sweet, salty, sour, pungent, bitter, and astringent) in each meal. This ensures all major food groups and nutrients are represented; and that you'll experience more satiety, thus diminishing the urge to snack or overeat.

Ayurveda believes that healing starts from within and by aligning with the infinite organizing-power of nature which follows the Law of Least Effort. The least effort is expended when your actions are motivated by love, because nature is held together by the energy of love, and when your actions are motivated by love, your energy expands and accumulates.
